The Manitoba Junior Hockey League handed out some hardware Sunday night, and the Selkirk Steelers swept the playoff accolades. In addition to winning the Turnbull Cup, Steeler players swept the individual awards in the postseason as Dustin Hughes was named MVP in addition to being the leading scorer. Teammate Justin Harris as the Top Goaltender. Regular season awards featured some predictable names with OCN's Aaron Starr getting the Steve "Boomer" Hawrysh Memorial Trophy for being the league MVP. Starr also led the CJAHL in scoring. Selkirk's Travis Kornelson was the Lorne "Windy" Lyndon Memorial Trophy winner for Hockey Ability and Sportsmanship. Neepawa's Riley Weselowski took home the Brian Kozak Memorial Trophy for MJHL Top Defenseman. One of the more hotly contested honors was for Coach of the Year. In the end, the Portage Terriers "Muzz McPherson" Award went to Craig Atkinson of the Neepawa Natives, who edged out Swan Valley's Del Pedrick. Winnipeg's Mark Magnowski was a bit of a surprise winner in Rookie of the Year sweepstakes as he won the Vince Leah Trophy over Dauphin's Brock Trotter. Neepawa netminder Greg Goodwin took home the Top Goaltender Award in what also had to have been a close race between several others, including Pierre-Olivier Girouard of the OCN Blizzard. Swan Valley's Jordan Oakley won the RBC Royal Bank Junior 'A' Scholarship. Matt Wheatley, of the Winnipeg South Blues, took home the Frank McKinnon Old Dutch Foods Scholarship. Curtis Budgell and Ryan Garbutt, both of the Blues, won the Ed Belfour High Performance Award.
