The Portage Terriers won two of three games during the week ending December 12 to take sole possession of first place in the Sher-Wood Division, and overall, in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Portage has a 23-8-3 record. The Neepawa Natives are second in the division, and overall, at 20-8-5 and two overtime losses, for 47 points in 35 games. The Winkler Flyers regained the lead in the Addison Division and are third overall. Winkler is 20-11-4 and has two overtime losses, for 46 points in 37 games. Rookie Matt Ostash had two goals and one assist December 7 in Winkler's 4-3 win over Southeast on home ice. Veteran Brandon Heck had two goals and one assist December 10 in Winkler's 7-2 win on Southeast's home ice. James Knight scored three times and added two assists December 9 in the Selkirk Steelers' 10-5 win over the Winnipeg South Blues on Winnipeg South's home ice. Winkler veteran Josh Froese leads league scorers with 49 points, including 20 goals, in 37 games. Ryan Garbutt of Winnipeg South leads league scorers with 25 goals in 35 games. A.J.
