The Tampa Bay Lightning broke the hearts of millions of Canadians on Monday night, stealing the Stanley Cup with an exciting 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames in game 7 of the championship final. Ironically, when the Tampa Tribune hit stands first thing Tuesday morning, an editorial had the Flames winning the cup. Apparently, two editorials were written, one for each scenario, and despite their best efforts to make sure the correct version was published, the wrong story ended up on the editorial page. "We apologize to the team and to the fans for our terrible error," editorial page editor Rosemary Goudreau said on the paper's Web site. "It is so important to us to get it right. And today we failed you. We extend our heartfelt apologies." A similar thing happened in the New York Times in October when the Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox in game 7 of the American League playoffs. The editorial in the early morning edition of the Times had the Red Sox winning the game, when in fact, the Yankees stormed from behind to win the game.
