Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Melville Millionaires will call a newly upgraded Communiplex home for the 2011-12 season. Melville City Council last week accepted a proposal to see construction mistakes at the Communiplex undergo alterations. Not a full reconstruction, the project is expected to be completed by the end of this summer. After that, Millionaire fans will be able to watch their boys take on the other 11 SJHL teams in style. The Melville Advance quoted Mayor Walter Streetlasky as saying that with council's decision, it is now "full speed ahead on the project." A previous error in the construction of the $24.5-million Communiplex Ð "related to a misconstruction of raker beams supporting the concrete slabs upon which the arena's seats are installed," according to the Advance Ð left seating levels "disproportionate to the project's original design." Workers hope to have the project completed by Sept. 1.4/4/11
