The Midget 'A' Bombers traveled to Prince Albert for a Tier III tournament on February 4 and 5. The guys and girl have worked hard this hockey year, but wins have been elusive. This tournament win coming prior to provincials will give the team a much needed boost of confidence. The team is a mix of seasoned rep hockey veterans and first time rep players and they had struggled to find a consistent winning performance. On this weekend they put it all together and shook the monkey from their collective backs. The forwards did the job on offense scoring often with many of the goals being the 'highlight reel' variety. The defense was aggressive and moved the puck quickly into the transition, and the goaltending by Ethan Kendrick was solid as the team was only scored on five times in the three games. They opened the tournament with a 6-1 victory over Tisdale. The team was lead by Nick Hamilton, who scored a natural hat-trick in the first period. Lyle LeClair, Jordon Crone, and Landon Row also snipped helpers. Nick Hamilton was selected as the Game Star. The next opponents were the Prince Albert Canadian Hawks. The Bombers came out flying and won convincingly 12-3. Scoring hat-tricks were Lyle LeClair with a natural in the first, Landon Row, and Nick Hamilton. Jordan Crone contributed two goals with Brady Bouvier notching one. Lyle LeClair was chosen as the game star. The two round-robin games placed the Bombers into the tournament's final game against the Prince Albert Rangers. The game was a spirited contest with the Bombers coming out on top 4-1. Landon Row opened the scoring in the first period and Nick Hamilton contributed another hat-trick to finish off the game. Game Star for the Midget Bombers was Nick Hamilton as he collected his third hat-trick of the weekend. Next tournament action for the team will be the Provincials in Portage during March 3-6. Good luck guys and girls!
