Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Hockey players united over the long weekend as teams played in a round-robin fashion at the Whitney Forum. The annual Roller Goodwin Tournament had players in their teens to those in their senior years passing the puck all weekend long. Five years ago there was talk about 2007 being the last year for the Roller Goodwin Tournament based on participation. With lower numbers then usual, coordinator Stewart Lloyd said only time would tell. Now 2012, 10 teams faced off in the memorial tournament this past weekend. Goodwin, a late Flin Flon resident, was described as being 'coulourful' and 'an icon in his own way.' Played in a round-robin fashion, teams face-off against teams of the same caliber _ to make the weekend as fun as possible. Open to the public to watch, the Roller Goodwin Tournament brought back some memories as well as created new ones. Teams skated up and down the ice as they shared laughs and celebrated goals. To end the weekend, a social and dinner were held at the Flin Flon Community Hall. Also open to the public to attend, with a ticket, the social offered the perfect way to end the long weekend. The Roller Goodwin Tournament rotates locations through the North and is generally held in Flin Flon every three years.
