The Roller Goodwin Memorial Tournament to be played in Flin Flon July 30, 31 and August 1, 2004, will have something new this year. There will be two exhibition games featuring the 1957 Bomber Memorial Cup Team. The 1957 team has had other reunions before, but none has allowed them to put on the skates and sweaters and skate around the Flin Flon rink like old times. It is hoped that at least 10-12 of the original team will be back for the games. Ted Hampson is contacting the players from the Memorial Cup team. The players who have indicated a willingness to come are Ted Hampson, Carl Forester, Ken Willey, George Konik, Rod Lee, Cliff Lenartz, Harvey Fleming, Ron Hutchinson, Orland Kurtenbach, Jean Gauthier, Mike Cardash, Lynn Davis, Ken Cunningham, Len Iles and Wayne Sproxton. Playing against the Memorial Cup team will be some of the past Bombers from before the 1957 team and just after. Some of the players who have indicated they would like to put the Bomber sweater on one last time are Bill Dobbyn, Bob Kabel, Walt Peacosh, Len Bolton, Red Nelson, Wayne Hall, Bob Wardle, Jim Holdaway, Norm Kvern, Terry Grindle, Tom Iannone, Jack Kinsley, Erv Ziemmer, Tom Gilmore, Chris Worthy, Terry Dolinsky, Ray Martynuik, Dennis Polonich, Gerry Hart and Bob Clarke. Locals George Chigol, Dennis Mansell, Gord Redahl and Jack Turner are also on the roster. There will be more confirmed players by game time, so it should be a great experience with a lot of old memories and a few tall tales to be told. The games are to be played Saturday, July 30 at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 1, 2004 at 5:15 p.m. All games are at the Whitney Forum.
