The Flin Flon Firemen couldn't' slow down McKeen's Trucking in a 6-5 loss. The two novice teams met at the Whitney Forum for an entertainingly tight game on Thursday night. "It was a good game, it was right down to the wire," said McKeen's Trucking coach, Paul Linnick. "They were a good team, they could have easily beat us. It was that tight, like one or two bounces the wrong way and they could have won the game." The Firemen were unlucky in staying on even terms after the score was 3-3. In net for the Firemen was rookie goalie Nicholas Power, who despite allowing six goals, played well. "He's getting better and better," said Firemen coach, Wade Schiltroth. While goaltending was key for both, the defense from McKeen's Trucking played well. McKeen's Trucking player William Hatherley felt his team played hard, which was evident as they battled the Firemen constantly along the boards. "Well we got the puck out when we needed to," Linnick said. "A few breakaways always helps." The 1-on-1 battles between player and goalie helped McKeen's Trucking get the edge they needed. During the dying seconds of the game, the Firemen tried desperately to bury the tying goal, but watched as the puck rolled by the crease. "It was really good, the kids tried hard, they always try hard," Schiltroth said. "We always try to get them to play their hardest, and win or lose, we always try to win or lose as a team. I'm trying to get them to play as a team."
