A lucky group of École McIsaac School students had extra reason to celebrate after the Flin Flon Bombers ousted the Humboldt Broncos last week.
Students from Ms. Wright’s Grade 5/6 class and Mr. Bolton’s Grade 4 were welcomed into the team dressing room to meet all of the players following the Feb. 5
match-up.
“It was very exciting and the dressing room smelled, but it was fun to get autographs and meet them,” said Mya Winton a Grade 5 student.
“My favourite part was at the end when we got to get their autographs in the concession area,” added Hanna Lytwyn, also a Grade 5 student.
Students made signs to support the Bombers at the game, helping to cheer them on to an 8-2 victory.
“It was awesome seeing the team score lots of goals and we all started chanting and cheering,” said Joel Williams, a Grade 6 student.
Classes at McIsaac were offered three options for Bomber-related activities: skate with the team, swim with the team or attend the game.
“The team’s involvement in the community is great,” said teacher Rachel Wright. “These opportunities help get the students excited for games. Some students had never been to a game before and now can’t wait to go again.”
