Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Students at Creighton Community School worked on their number logic as well as estimation as they participated in the Math Olympics. With an Easter theme to the Thursday morning event, the Pre K to Grade 3 students had to estimate the length of carrots, judge how many glasses of water would fill a jug and even put their hopping skills to the test. Set up in the gymnasium, the students were encouraged by their group leaders Ð Grade 6 students Ð to complete each task. Tempting Though there were some tempting stations, such as the ones that had jelly beans and chocolate, the students were only able to eat at the snack station Ð a difficult concept to manage for some. Served with juice boxes, the students were all given a jelly Easter egg to snack on. Some were even lucky enough to have their snack with the Kodiak bear. The Math Olympics began like any other Olympics, with an opening ceremony. Students were walked into the gymnasium, took a knee and belted out a few Easter songs and listened to the rules. As well, the students all took an oath, cleverly written to the tune of Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush.
