Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The numbers might have been low at this year's Flin Flon Bomber Golf Tournament, but that didn't stop the players, coaches, and fans from having a good time. 'People who didn't golf...missed a really good day of golf,' said Bomber coach and GM Mike Reagan. With nothing but sunshine in the sky the community was given a chance to get to meet the players before another season gets underway. Used as a fundraiser for the players' track suits, jackets, and under garments, the golf tournament is a fun way to support the players'. The organization saw 38 golfers this year _ a drop from last year's 50. Though there was plenty of fun had with the support shown, Reagan wishes more fans and community members were on the links. 'The money raised is...for the players. It doesn't go to paying bills,' said the coach. 'I guess that's where the disappointment comes in.' Participants paid their $65 to golf for the afternoon, have a meal, and take home a prize. The players receive a portion of the money as it also pays for their meals. 'We'd like to see (more) people out in the future. It really is a great golf tournament,' said Reagan. 'Show your support to the boys.' Along with golfing, conversations, and a few beverages, the tournament offered a few fun challenges. On the final hole, golfers had to chip their way onto the green with a pair of hockey gloves on. On another hole participants had to Beat the Banker. 'I think a lot of people had fun with it,' Reagan said about the challenges. 'It's about fun, not about who the best golfer is.' At the end of the day prizes were handed out _ which Reagan said averaged around the $250 mark. 'We just want people to come out and enjoy themselves and get to meet the players.' The Bombers are back on the ice on Friday as they are in Swan Valley to look for revenge over the Stampeders.
