There was plenty of soccer talent on the road earlier this month as teams from the community competed in two tournaments in Saskatoon. Six teams from the Flin Flon area traveled to Saskatoon the weekend of June 15 as they competed in two tournaments _ the Harder Avalon and the Grevers Eastside. In the Harder Avalon, the U12 Flin Flon Kickers took fourth overall out of 10 teams. The all-boys team were right alongside the U12 Flin Flon Collision girls team, the U14 Flin Flon Dynamite girls team, the U14 Flin Flon Eagles boys team, the U16 Flin Flon Fury girls team, and the Flin Flon Fusion boys team. It was a successful weekend for the Flin Flon teams as the Collision brought home Gold from the Grevers Eastside Tournament and the Dynamite earned first place in both tournaments. The Fusion brought home Silver from the Harder Avalon and Gold from the Grevers Eastside. The Kickers placed fifth in the Grevers tournament, but coach Corrie Pomarenski says she sees the team bringing home a medal from both tournaments next season. The two out-of-town tournaments helped to wrap up the soccer season locally.
