A Meadow Lake man is writing a book on the SJHL, and is looking for stories to complete his chapter on the Flin Flon Bombers. The project started back in May or June, shortly after the Humboldt Broncos won the Royal Bank Cup. "I thought now would be a good time to do a book," said author John Lynch. "The book will be based on the league since about 1970, when the current Junior 'A' was actually recognized as a separate junior league." The book will take a closer look at the Wayne Kartusch years, as the past commissioner has been a part of the league since its early days. Kartusch retired at the conclusion of last season, after 26 years as commish and previous stints as a coach with the Regina Pat Blues. "A number of other similar books about hockey, have come on the market," said Lynch. "There is so much hockey history around the SJHL." Lynch hopes that people around Flin Flon and the Bombers will remember some stories that he can include in his book. The Bombers have played nearly 20 years in the SJHL, joining the league in the 1984-85 season, after leaving the Western Hockey League in 1978 and a brief stint in the Northern Manitoba League. If you have any insight on the team since 1984, Lynch would be happy to hear your stories. He can be reached by phone at 306-236-1245 or by e-mail at jl0910_306@hotmail.com.
