On October 16, 2010 Flin Flon, Cranberry Portage and Denare Beach Taekwondo members participated in a tournament in Dauphin. There were 217 participants at the tournament. From our region the following members received medals: Kari Rutherford Gold - Patterns Gold - Breaking Gold - Sparring Kaylee Tetreault Bronze - Patterns Bronze - Sparring Kyle Corden Bronze - Sparring Skanthan Vijayaranjan Gold - Patterns Bronze - Breaking Bronze - Sparring Thenmoli Vijayaranjan Bronze - Patterns Bronze - Sparring Michael Manns Bronze - Breaking Bronze -Sparring Sarah Anderson Silver - Patterns Bronze - Breaking Bronze - Sparring Ainsley McCracken Gold - Breaking Gold - Patterns Tracy Wheeler-Anderson Bronze - Board Breaking Bronze - Patterns Jeannie Dubray Gold - Sparring Silver - Breaking The highlight of the day was Ms. Kari Rutherford of Flin Flon, winning Gold in all three of her competitions, patterns, board breaking and full contact sparring. Master Jedele mentioned in the 40 years that he has been doing Taekwondo that this was the first time he had ever seen someone win Gold in all of his or her competitions. Master Jedele would like to announce that the local club would become independent under WTF Taekwondo Canada with the name change to Northern Spirit Taekwondo Academy.
