KangÕs 2008 Inter-Academy Taekwondo Tournament was held in Brandon October 18th. Members from the local Flin Flon and Denare Beach clubs went to the tournament, which had approximately 200 members of KangÕs Taekwondo all over Manitoba competing. The participating members won a number of medals in board breaking, patterns and sparring. Sparring matches for black and poom belt members are two rounds of one minute each with a 30 second rest period. ÒI trained hard for the tournament, but realized that if I want a gold medal I will have to train harder next year,Ó reported Samuel Dufour- Jarvis who received a bronze medal in sparring. A highlight of the day was when the demonstration team performed a spectacular presentation with board and brick breaking. In the upcoming year members continue to train for the Canada American tournament as well as prepare for black belt testing. Although next yearÕs tournament will be held in Lorette, Manitoba, Flin Flon members are hoping to host the Inter-Academy Tournament in Flin Flon 2010.
