Skaters from The Flin Flon Skating Club attended the Norman Regional Seminar held in The Pas, on Saturday October 19. Skaters from Gillam, Thompson, The Pas and Flin Flon were in attendance. The Seminar was lead by Clinician and professional coach Dana McKee with instruction for jumps, dance, edges, stroking, turns, footwork, field moves, music interpretation and spins. Skate Canada Judge Mary Ellen McDonald presented to both skaters and parents on Skate Canada's Long Term Athlete Development plans, and changes to the Star 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 program that are coming in next fall. She also informed the group on Skate Canada Tests _ why you should take one; how to ready your results; what judges are looking for and; why tests are important for personal achievement. The seminar finished with private lessons for skaters with Ice Dance Instructor Nolan Mudrewich, Judge Mary Ellen McDonald, and Coaches Dana McKee, Sue Sutherland and Sharon Maki. The following skaters from Flin Flon, Creighton, and Denare Beach took part in the seminar: Kara Lamb; Victoria Pedwell; Lisa Pretorius; Darah Brown; Eden Dickens; Naomi Dickens; Suzanne Nelson; Alyssa Andres; Torri Bjarnason; Brooke Schwarz; Dilyn Johnson; Jerilyn Wood; Kara Burroughs; and Savannah Thurstan.
