Warm weather, a slight breeze, and plenty of onlookers set the stage for the 10th annual Nor- Man Skateboard & BMX Championships this past weekend. Held at the new Flin Flon Skatepark this year, the competition will now travel between this community, The Pas, and Thompson. Roughly 300 people came out to watch the event Saturday as skaters and boarders came from Northern Manitoba to compete.
This year's event saw 39 competitors with some as young as 11 and 12 years old. Local competitors in the 12 & Under category were Gunner Duthie, Stephen Moran, Carson Ledoux, Jared Bradt, and Brett Grant. Competing in the 12-17 category, from the Flin Flon area, were Bladen McCallum, Jal Agpuzla, Cole Zoerb, and Pearce Pardoski. While there were competitors from Thompson and The Pas in the 18+ category, there were no athletes from the area.
In the BMX portion of the competition, Flin Flonners Corbin Collier and Ryan Potkonjak competed alongside Aidan Chrisp-Parsons of Creighton in the 12 & Under group. Alex Clarke and Adam Hilts, of Flin Flon, competed in the 12-17 category.

Next year's Nor-Man Skateboard & BMX Championships will be held at the Kelsey Recreation Skatepark. Shane McNevin of Thompson, who placed 3rd in 18+, competed hard in the Nor-Man Skateboard & BMX Championship. Garrett Lavallee of The Pas placed first in 18+ category.
