A Flin Flon golfer earned top spot in the qualifying round in the Conexus Ladies Lobstick Golf Tournament in Prince Albert last week. Lori Salahub ranked first at the end of the qualifying match when she carded a four-over-par 75 and defeated Carol Spanks of Saskatoon. Spanks was the last person to qualify in the Championship Flight. This wasn't Salahub's first swing at the tournament as she was the runner up in 2011. Following Tuesday's success, Salahub continued on to face Kathy Ziglo of Saskatoon in quarter final action later that day. The finals of the tournament were held Friday after press time. Prince Albert native Brooke Hobson made some waves during the tournament. At the age of 14 she recently returned from the Canada Summer Games in Quebec. She is a two-time defending provincial junior girl's champion and recently traveled to Ontario for the national junior girl's event, where she was shy just one stroke to make the cut.
