Flin Flon is shining strong in cadet camps this summer as the Top General Training Cadet award was presented to a local cadet for her hard work and dedication in Whitehorse, YT.

Cadet Jemedie Morris is representing Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps 2328 in Whitehorse this summer.

The award is give to a cadet who stands out from their peers in overall performance, as well as the areas of dress, deportment, cooperation and team spirit.

The Army Cadet General Training course is the first summer course in the army cadet program.

The course lasts two weeks, and is held three different times through the summer at the camp.

Along with her 25-cadet platoon, Cadet Morris participated in a variety of activities including canoeing, rock climbing, team sports, and camping.

As the only permanent cadet camp north of 60°, Whitehorse Cadet Summer Training Centre offers a unique wilderness setting for cadets to immerse themselves in.

Growing up in Flin Flon, Cadet Morris joined the 2328 army cadets this year.

This was her first summer away from home with army cadets.

She enjoyed making new friends during her two weeks in the Yukon, but is excited to go home to hunt and fish in Manitoba.
