The first Let's Walk for the Heart was held Sunday, August 26 at noon. Despite the rainy weather we had a group of 15 great ladies show up and walk the 3.5-kilometre Hearts In Motion path located in Creighton. After the participants were done the walk they were able to snack on a veggie tray and have some water. Everyone went home with a certificate of participation and several left one of the five door prizes awarded. Prize bags were also handed out, filled with Heart & Stroke and In Motion merchandise. The prize bags were handed out to the oldest walker, the youngest walker and the person who recruited the most people, and the three participants who raised the most money. As of August 30, the total raised from the event was $1,270, with some donations still coming in. All donations raised will go to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. In the end I was very happy with the turnout and the support this walk received. I look forward to next year's walk, as I would like this to become an annual event. I look forward to seeing everyone for the second annual Let's Walk for the Heart.
