The Flin Flon Bombers already know who will be leading the way in the 2016-17 campaign.
Braden Lacoursiere has been named the team’s new captain. The 6-foot-1, 211-pound defenceman from Unity SK will be entering his fourth – and final – season in the SJHL.
“I couldn’t imagine somebody else being the captain,” said Bombers head coach Mike Reagan.
When asked what he looks for in a captain, Reagan said a high compete level and someone who is passionate about being a Flin Flon Bomber.
“With Braden, it was just a no-brainer.”
Lacoursiere played his rookie season with the Battlefords North Stars. He came to Flin Flon as part of the futures package in the Cam Blair trade in 2014.
This past season he posted a career-high 13 points and received the team’s defensive player award.
“He is a lunchpail type guy. Goes to work every day … Just a very honest player,” Reagan said.
