The La Ronge Ice Wolves have made it to the top of the SJHL ladder as they beat out the Yorkton Terriers 4-2 for the Credit Union Cup. Playing Game 6 Sunday night, the Ice Wolves advanced for the win with a score of 3-2. Representing the Bauer Conference, the Ice Wolves climbed from the bottom of the rankings to take on the top remaining team from the Sherwood Conference. Both the Ice Wolves and the Terriers played their way from the Elimination Series at the start of the playoffs. Now the Ice Wolves are set to take on the Dauphin Kings in the ANAVET Cup, which gets underway on Friday. Following the ANAVET Cup, the Kings and Ice Wolves wall face off for the RBC Cup in May. Before the Cup In the Elimination Series, the Ice Wolves swept the Humboldt Broncos, the defending RBC Cup champions, in four games. Passing through the Flin Flon Bombers in six games, the Ice Wolves then moved onto the Battlefords North Stars and took them in six games. The SJHL Credit Union Cup finals went back and forth as the Terriers won Game 1 in overtime. The Ice Wolves pulled up their socks and won Game 2 (3-1) and Game 3 (4-3). With the series sitting at 2-1 for La Ronge, the Terriers earned the comeback they needed. Winning Game 4 by a 7-2 score was big for Yorkton, but not big enough as the Ice Wolves took Game 5 with a 3-1 score. And Game 6 went to the Dogs as La Ronge won the Cup by a score of 3-2. On the MJHL side, the Dauphin Kings soared through their finals and swept the Winnipeg Saints 4-0. The Kings now haven't played a game since April 3. The Ice Wolves and the Kings get started on Friday with Game 1 in La Ronge.
