Both the La Ronge Ice Wolves and the Yorkton Terriers have beat the odds this season. Both starting off in the elimination series, the teams have made their way through three playoff series. The Terriers and Ice Wolves are set to compete against each other for the Credit Union Cup and the SJHL title. Starting off the playoffs in February, the Ice Wolves took on former RBC Champions, the Humboldt Broncos, and swept them 3-0 in a best-of-five series. The Terriers tore through the Melville Millionaires 3-1 for the win. Both the Ice Wolves and Terriers then moved onto to the top teams, from the regular season, in the conferences. The Ice Wolves were pitted against the Flin Flon Bombers in the Bauer Conference while the Terriers and Weyburn Red Wings faced off for the Sherwood. The Maroon and White were cancelled out 4-2 and the Red Wings were out 4-1. Also playing in the Conference Semi Finals were the Battlefords North Stars and the Melfort Mustangs. Battlefords won 4-1 in the Bauer Conference. For Sherwood, the Kindersley Klippers and the Notre Dame Hounds battled it out Ð leaving the Klippers on top after a four-game sweep. The Terriers and the Klippers, both winners of their series, took each other on in hopes of claiming their conference. The Terriers came out on top after competing in Game 7 with the series at 4-3. In the Bauer Conference, the Ice Wolves and the North Stars fought for their playoff lives, but it was the Ice Wolves who won 4-2. Next up, the Ice Wolves and the Terriers are one deck for the Credit Union Cup. Dates were unavailable at press time. Following the SJHL championship, the winner will compete against the MJHL top team in the ANAVET Cup. Currently, the Dauphin Kings, the host of the 2010 RBC Cup, and the Winnipeg Saints are competing for the MJHL title. The RBC Cup, which will feature the winner of the ANAVET Cup, will take place from May 1-9 in Dauphin.
