With the SJHL season underway, the Flin Flon Bombers have hit the ice with a new captain. Returning Bomber Dennis Kubat (39) wears the signature 'C' on his jersey. Coach Mike Reagan says Kubat was chosen because of the way he leads by example. "He's respected by the guys and he knows what it takes (to be captain)," says Reagan. In response to being named captain, Kubat says "it's an honour." He also adds, "there is a lot of tradition behind being captain." While being named captain might have some people thinking added pressure, Kubat says he doesn't see it that way at all. "It won't change me as a player, but it makes me more of a leader," he says. Reagan says Kubat is a well-respected player and person, and Kubat says he learned from last season's captain, Blake Rolston. "I had a good role model, so I'm going to follow what they did and do the right thing," says Kubat, emphasizing what an honour it is to be captain.
