The schedule could be the nemesis for Hapnot Collegiate's senior boys basketball team during zones which start today in The Pas. The Kopper Kings' first game is against Thompson, who is the top team going into the tournament. Following that game, the Kopper Kings must play The Pas in back-to-back games with an hour-and-a-half break. Kopper Kings coach Tony Ticzon hopes his team is ready. "This is the last hurrah for some of the guys and time to learn from things they've done for the others," Ticzon said. The Kopper Kings coach expects his veterans Jake Rogers, Ian Clark and Daniel Dowell to step up. Ticzon feels his team has a 50/50 chance of winning the zones, but it's going to come down to playing as a team and avoiding individual tendencies. "They're capable of winning zones," Ticzon said, who is only worried about the back-to-back games. Ian Clark, who is one of the Kopper Kings most productive players, feels the team has a good chance. Ian doesn't feel any pressure to carry the team. "We've got our core group," he said. "We try and distribute the ball and have even scoring." Senior Kopper Kweens Coach Karen Clark just wants to be in the final for zones. Going into the tournament, the Kopper Kweens will try to overcome illness and injury.
