It was another successful weekend for the Senior A Girls volleyball team from Creighton Community School. The team went undefeated in round robin play to take home first place from Carrot River this past weekend. Competing against four other teams in the tournament, the Kodiaks played "extremely well," according to coach Ryan Trumbley. The Kodiaks hosted the first tournament of the season two weekends ago, but none of the same teams were in Carrot River this weekend. Trumbley says this weekend was "much more competitive." But the girls didn't seem to mind as volleyed the teams throughout the round robin play. The Kodiaks faced Melfort in the semi finals, where they took the win in game three with a score of 15-10. In the finals, which also came down to a third game, the Kodiaks took on the hosting team. Creighton came out on top 15-13 over Carrot River for the win. Watching from the sidelines, Trumbley says he noticed "the team fought back a lot. "They were down in games, but they fought to come back. "They lost the first set in the semi finals and it would have ben easy to give up, but they fought hard and won both games." Pressing on like that, Trumbley says, "shows a lot of character." Next up for the girls, they will be in La Ronge for another tournament.
