ItÕs been a good season for the Senior GirlÕs volleyball team at Creighton Community School as they are undefeated in the round-robin play. The coaches, Jason Straile and Ryan Trumbley, credit the girlÕs for their hard work and dedication to the teamÕs success. ÒTheyÕve put in everything theyÕve got (into) the season,Ó says Straile. ÒThey give up their social life...and everything and never complain,Ó says Trumbley. The coaches say it doesnÕt matter if the girls are in at 6:45 a.m. or 10 p.m., they come to practice with heart. Volleyball season got underway the first week of September and since then, the Kodiaks sit with a 26-2 record in match play (best of two) and a 50-6 record for sets (a game). ÒWe are very pleased,Ó says Trumbley, referring to the success of the team. ÒAs always, there is always room for improvement. ÒWe are working more on attack defense, basically,Ó he says. ÒBut every facet of the game is equally important as the other.Ó Compared to this time last year, the coaches agree, the team has made huge strides. ÒI think itÕs a good improvement,Ó says Straile. ÒOur play has significantly improved, our matches have improved. ÒWe have yet to loose a match in anything but the finals, which isnÕt the best place to loose,Ó he adds. But all said and done, the girls continue their success. Next weekend the team is in Melfort before hosting a tournament on October 24 and 25. The one in Melfort is considered the Òbig one,Ó says Trumbley, noting that the top teams in the province will be competing. The home tournament, which will feature the Kodiaks, the Hapnot Kweens, Hudson Bay, Sandy Bay and Snow Lake, will be another chance for the girlÕs to show what they can do.
