Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Creighton girls hosted the 6th annual Kit Klassic Tournament earlier this month where they placed second in the A side final against Duck Lake. The Kodiaks hosted the eight-team basketball tournament two weekends ago where the Senior B team was able to fill in a void where Osler had to drop out at the last minute. The Senior A girls started off strong with a 44-2 win over La Ronge as well as a close match against the Hapnot Kweens. The Kodiaks and Kweens were even keel throughout the game, but it went to the Kodiaks with a 33-30 victory to send them to the finals. On the A side, Creighton lost 50-41 to Duck Lake in what coach Ryan Trumbley said was an 'exciting' game for both teams. Flin Flon and Sandy Bay competed for third place as the more northern team picked up the win. On the B side, Nipawin defeated Tisdale to take the title. In the seventh and eighth places the Creighton Senior B team defeated La Ronge. On the Friday night, the teams competed in a skills competition. 'The gym was packed for the skills competition,' said Trumbley. The following day, parents, friends and family members cheered on both Creighton and Flin Flon teams. 'It was a great weekend of basketball,' said Trumbley.
