The season is now underway for the Creighton Kodiaks football team.
The Kodiaks fell 38-12 to the Sandy Bay T-Wolves in their first game of the season, committing six costly turnovers and having at least one player injured.
Blake Alexander started the game at quarterback, throwing two touchdown passes to receiver Austin McLean.
Before the season, Kodiaks players saw Sandy Bay as a potential competitor with Creighton for the league championship.
In other northern Saskatchewan football action, the Pinehouse Lakers topped the debutant La Loche Lakers 64-0 in La Loche’s first game in the league.
The Kodiaks will play their next game against La Loche on Sept. 12, under the lights at Max Clunie Field in Prince Albert.
Following that game, the Kodiaks will return home for their first of two home games this season on Sept. 20, where they will face the Cumberland House Islanders.
