The Creighton Kodiaks hit the field Thursday for their season opener a week later than originally planned.
The Kodiaks were initially scheduled to visit Air Ronge last Thursday, Sept. 8, but the host team preferred to have more time to prepare.
That was fine with Kodiaks head coach Ryan Karakochuk, who welcomes a make-up game on Tuesday, Oct. 11 that will give Creighton two regular season home dates instead of one.
“The boys were really happy they got their second home game,” he said. “Home games are precious, and not only that, it gives us an edge playing at home.”
The Kodiaks open their season tomorrow, Thursday, in Sandy Bay at 3:30 pm Manitoba time. The Northern Saskatchewan Football League plans to livestream the game at Northernskfootball.com, but there’s a chance poor weather or technical difficulties could cancel those plans.
Creighton’s first home game will be next Thursday, Sept. 22 against Cumberland House. The Reminder will be following the Kodiaks in print and online.
