The Creighton Kodiaks fast pitch district team got in an exhibition game prior to heading to their District tournament in Melfort on Wednesday. Playing against a group of 'old-timers', they easily won 14-7. The Kodiaks scored six runs in the first inning and were led by the solid pitching of Jordy Dumenko. "They played really well for a second game," said co-coach Ryan Trumbley, following the game. "They played good defense and didn't get intimidated." Despite it being an exhibition game, Trumbley had his team treated the game like it was the real deal. "We want to be as intense as possible," he said. Trumbley expects his team to win the districts, but it won't be easy with the team scheduled to play four games in a row. That in fact is Trumbley's only concern. Playing against the 'old-timers' provided the Kodiaks with game experience. While it may be a made up team, they didn't take it lightly. "They want to win," Trumbley said of the opposition. "We thank them for coming." 7/6/06
