Hard work and working as a team has paid off for the Creighton Community School senior girlsÕ volleyball team so far this season. With a perfect 6-0 record from last weekend in Conferences, the team will be heading to Canora, Sask., this coming weekend to take on five other teams that will bring some tough competition. But team captain Bailey Streitle puts it best when she says Òwhen we all play together, there is not really anyone who can beat us.Ó Going into the Regionals this weekend, the Kodiaks, who have been favoured to come in second place in Provincials, will be up against Lanigan, who is favoured to win. But coach Jason Straile says itÕs still anyoneÕs game. ÒI truly believe anyone can beat anyone at anytime,Ó says Straile. Streitle watched her team warm up before saying this yearÕs squad knows what itÕs all about. ÒItÕs the first team in many years to feel this confident,Ó says the Grade 12 student. ÒItÕs not only me who wants it this bad.Ó Streitle says getting the whole team on board didnÕt just happen over night. As a team, they have worked together to get where they are. ÒWe arenÕt playing for ourselves this year,Ó she says. ÒWe are passing to others for a hit and working together.Ó And confidence, adds coach Ryan Trumbley, is something he sees the team having a lot of. ÒWe arenÕt nervous,Ó says Trumbley. ÒWe are going in as any other tournament. And not being nervous is a byproduct of having a lot of confidence and a great season.Ó The senior girlsÕ team will be travelling to Canora to take on Tisdale, Wadena, Canora, Watrous and Lanigan. The top three teams from Regionals will move onto Provincials, which will be held in Caronport, Sask., on November 14 and 15.
