It was a first for Creighton Community School as the Senior GirlsÕ varsity volleyball team traveled to Provincials recently. Taking on the top teams in the province is no easy task and the girls learned firsthand what type of competition they were up against. Though they didnÕt come in the top three, the girls played their best volleyball, according to coaches Jason Straile and Ryan Trumbley. ÒWe have no complaints,Ó says Straile. Trumbley added that it Òcomes down to playing the best in the province.Ó Both agreed it was a good way to end the season. Going into the competition, Creighton was up against Lumsden, Lanigan, LCBI, Delmeny, Shaunovon, Melfort, Watrous, Carenport and Melville. With the provincials in Carnport this year, the Kodiaks presented themselves with not too many people knowing where Creighton was. ÒThe girls put Creighton on the map down there,Ó says Straile. Both coaches were pleased with the outcome of the tournament, noting that the Kodiaks were the only team to win a set against the gold and silver medalists in the round-robin play. The girlÕs went 4-7 in sets. The following represents the round-robin portion of provincials against the Kodiaks.
