The London Knights captured the Memorial Cup on Sunday with a 4-0 win over the Rimouski Oceanic. London won their first Memorial Cup in their franchise's 40-year history before their hometown fans, as they were the host-team this year. Some hockey experts are saying that the Knights may be the best junior hockey team ever assembled in Canada. This was echoed by the commissioner of the Canadian Hockey League when he made the presentation to the winners after their final game on Sunday. During the regular season, the Knights had a 59-7-2 record. After the playoffs, their overall record stood at 79-9-2. In the final game, London's strong defence prevailed, shutting down Rimouski, the highest-scoring team in the CHL this season, and their star Sidney Crosby, the league's Most Valuable Player. The Knights outshot the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champions 44-27 in their 4-0 shutout win. There was added attention on the Memorial Cup this year, after the cancellation of the NHL season. It was the 87th Memorial Cup, Canada's major under-21 tournament. Named in honor of the country's war heroes, the Memorial Cup is an annual event featuring the host team and the champions of the CHL's three leagues Ñ the Ontario Hockey League, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League. There are 56 teams in the Canadian Hockey League2/6/05
