For the second time in three years, the Kindersley Klippers are the SJHL MemberCARE Cup Champions, as they defeated the Weyburn Red Wings 4-3 on Friday night in game six to win the series. Weyburn's Jereme Tendler opened the scoring at 13:54 of the first period, but Eric Schwabe replied for the Klippers on a power play at 15:55. Chris O'Connor's power-play goal in the second period gave the Klippers a 2-1 lead, but Tendler's second of the game at 2:47 evened the score. Schwabe's second of the game at 6:05 of the third period once again gave Kindersley the lead, but Frankie Dicks knotted the game at 3-3 at 9:23. Jason Fleck scored the game winning goal to end the series at 11:27. The Wings out shot the Klippers 34-29, including 14-8 in the first period, but former Weyburn netminder Nathan Deobald was the difference for Kindersley, along with two power-play goals on six chances. The Red Wings failed to score on their three power plays. Nearly 1,500 people were on hand in Weyburn to watch the final game of the series. The Klippers and the Selkirk Steelers will do battle for the Anavet Cup starting April 24 in Kindersley.
