Last year, the Creighton Kodiaks girls’ basketball team won their hometown tournament, the Kit Classic, for the first time.
Now, they’re hoping for a repeat.
The Kodiaks will aim for another gold during the 10th annual Kit Classic being played at Creighton Community School on Friday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 14.
The Kodiaks have had a strong start to the season, placing high in tournaments in Nipawin and Birch Hills.
Eight teams will take part in the Kit Classic, including the Kodiaks’ cross-border rivals, the Hapnot Kweens. Other teams from across the region will also make the trip to Creighton, including Naicam, Sandy Bay, The Pas’ MBCI Spartans and Stobart High School from Duck Lake.
A skills competition will be held on Friday at 7 pm, featuring a series of skill-testing events, including a three-point contest.
The tournament kicks off with a game between the Kodiaks and Frontier Collegiate at 2 pm Friday, with a tilt between Hapnot and Nipawin’s LP Miller Bears set for 4 pm.
The tournament’s A-side final will take place on Saturday at 7 pm.
