Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Flin Flonner Sam Kinsley made his way to Quebec over the weekend as he competed in the 2012 Canada Basketball National Championships. The Hapnot Collegiate King was one of 250 athletes on the court during the six-day event. As a talented prospect, Kinsley hit the courts in hopes of being named one of the top youth male basketball players across Canada. The week-long competition determined the best 15U and 17U squads across Canada. The week-long event held two separate tournaments _ Kinsley looking to make the 17U team. Kinsley was in competition with notable players Jake Babic, Tyrell Bellot-Green, Malcolm Duvivier and Chris McComber who were apart of the Canadian Cadet Men's National Team that finished fifth in the FIBA World 17U Championship this year. 'It's a fact; Canadian Basketball is growing each and every year on the national and international scene,' read a press release leading into the tournament. Currently living in Winnipeg to play with Team Manitoba, Kinsley will return to Flin Flon shortly. The basketball star will enter Grade 12 at Hapnot Collegiate this fall as spectators expect to see him, again, on the Kings' squad. Watch The Reminder for further coverage of Kinsley's experience and results from the 2012 Canada Basketball National Championships in Quebec.
