Submitted Article Both the Hapnot Kings and Kweens played their first games of the season at a volleyball tournament this past weekend and walked away with first place. The Hapnot Senior Kings and Kweens traveled to Thompson for their Pre-Zone tournament this past weekend. There were four teams competing for the title and to set the tone for the 'team to beat'; Cross Lake, The Pas, Thompson and Flin Flon. After the round robin play, the boys were in second overall and the girls in third place. The Kings went on to play Thompson in the semis and won easily in two games. Heading into that match Hapnot was ranked second after the round robin while Thompson was placed third. The final had the Kings matched up against The Pas _ the one team who beat Hapnot in the round robin action. Not letting The Pas in twice, the Kings took two easy wins to claim first place. On the girls side the Kweens were ranked third after the round robin and were matched up against The Pas who was ranked second. The Kweens were victorious after three games, which took them to the finals against their long time Thompson rivals. The Kweens lost the first game 25-14, but came back strong in the second to win 25-15 It all came down to the third and final game and the girls were determined and focused to win this title as defending champs. The Kweens took the title with a convincing 15-11 win.
