Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Hapnot Senior Kings and Kweens put up a tough fight at the recent MHSAA Provincial soccer competition in Altona. The girls started the October 12-13 tournament off with a match-up against the Minnedosa Chancellors early Friday morning. After that early loss, the Kweens went on to play the Steinbach Regional Sabers. The Sabers took left the Kweens with a 0-2 weekend. Minnedosa and Steinbach later went on to compete for the Consolation Championship. The Chancellors came out on top. The Kings were on the field early on the Friday morning as well as they defeated the Swan Valley Tigers. That win sent the Kings to game two against the MacGregor Mustangs. The Mustangs came out on top and sent the Kings to the consolation pool. Hapnot took on the Morden Thunder and moved one step closer to the Consolation Championship. A loss to the Niverville Panthers left the Panthers with the consolation final. The MacGregor Mustangs went on to win the banner with a win over the Stonewall Rams. In the girls' division, the River Rams defeated the Stonewall Rams for first place. Locally, the snow on the ground looks as though it's here to stay. And what better timing as the Kings and Kweens head indoors to gear up for the volleyball season.
