The Flin Flon Bombers outshot the Kindersley Klippers both Friday and Saturday night, but couldn’t outscore them.
They did manage to pick up a single point in a shootout loss during the second game of the weekend series in Kindersley.
On Friday night, Jan. 16, the Bombers led 44-35 in the shot department but fell 3-2 on the scoreboard.
Chris Rauckman and Dean Allison scored the goals for Flin Flon, but it was Landon Gross who netted the winner for Kinderlsey midway through the third period.
Evan Wininger made 42 saves to earn the win, while Adam Beukeboom stopped 32 in net for the Bombers.
On Saturday, Jan. 17 Simon Hofley made 39 saves but again Wininger backstopped the Klippers to the win, this time making 43 saves in regulation and overtime and two more in the shootout.
Kindersley jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead after the first period, and led 3-2 after the second after Flin Flon goals by Tyler Bell and Chris Rauckman got the Bombers back in the game.
Rauckman tied the game with his league-leading 29th goal at 18:34 of the third period.
The Bombers held the Klippers off in overtime despite taking two penalties in the extra frame.
In the shootout, both Cody Young and Marc Dubeau scored for Kindersley and the Bombers failed to score on their chances.
Over the course of both games, the line of Chris Rauckman, Dean Allison and Brett Boehm accounted for all of Flin Flon’s scoring.
Rauckman had three goals and an assist, Allison had a goal and three assists while Boehm increased his point tally to 10 in six games with two assists on the weekend. On the back end, Tyler Bell also had a goal and an assist, and Danys Chartrand was the only other Bomber to pick up a point with one assist.
Next action for the Bombers will be Friday when they host the Yorkton Terriers for the first of back-to-back games at the Whitney Forum.
