Children will have to find a new place to play for the next couple of weeks as Kin Park, on Green Street, will be closed for landscape work. Two weeks ago Kinsmen and Kinette members began working on the playground by installing benches, a new sign, a new play structure and garbage cans. But Michael Alexander, a Kin Park committee member, says they canÕt have people walking around as they try to lay sod. ÒPlease avoid using the park for the next two weeks so the landscaping and sod can grow. We want as little traffic as possible,Ó says Alexander. ÒIt will be closed for approximately two weeks.Ó ÒClosedÓ signs went up on the park earlier this week, as did a new Kin Park sign. In the last few years, Alexander says the park has been remodeled. ÒThe equipment is new in the last couple of years. There is nothing to be moved,Ó he said. ÒBut we will be adding a new fence later this fall.Ó The majority of the work at the park was done at the hands of the Kinsmen and Kinettes, though Alexander says they did have some help by contractors. To date, though he didnÕt have a number, Alexander says a lot of money has gone into this park in the last couple of years. ÒItÕs the original play structure from Parkdale School, then we put in the smaller kids' structure, swing sets, picnic table, sign, garbage can and benches,Ó he said.
