The Hapnot Kweens recently traveled to Neepawa to play the best three high school girls teams in the province in 2007. On the Saturday morning, their first game was against Virden. The game started well for the Kweens when Jessie Nygren scored after only five minutes of play. The Kweens defence were superb once again, this allowed the midfield and forwards to dominate the Virden end of the field. The score of 12-0 for the Kweens reflected their complete dominance of the game, with three goals from Nygren, one from Destiny Henry, two from Klause, three from Anderson, two from Tremblay, and one from Delaney McIntyre. Next up were the Swan River Tigers. As expected, this was a much tougher game. Swan River, coached by Jody Williams are always well prepared. Once again the Kweens opened the scoring with a superb chip over the Swan River goalkeepers head from Nygren. The Kweens then dominated the tigers defence. Somehow the Kweens failed to score, and the score stayed the same flattering Swan River, the Kweens won 1-0. Scorer for the Kweens was Nygren. The third game was the much anticipated match up against Neepawa, a team who the Kweens had never beaten. The success of the whole weekend depended on this one game. Both the players and coaches wanted to beat Neepawa, and as the team took to the field there were no Kweens players joking around, this was all business. The final score of 4-0 for Hapnot was perhaps the most satisfying of the weekend, having finally beaten Neepawa the Kweens celebrations could be heard for miles. Scoring for the red and white were, Nygren (2), Klause(1), Delaney McIntyre(1). The Kweens suffered injuries to forward Henry, with a groin pull, and a thigh strain to midfielder Michelle Podaima, both players should be fit by next weekend when the game of the week will see the Kweens take on their arch rivals the Thompson Trojans on either Friday or Saturday. This past weekend both the Kings and Kweens played in their home tournament. This was the last test for both teams before zones next week. The Kweens have one aim this season, win a provincial banner for Hapnot. The team is starting to play well, and even though this weekend we won all three games, we can still improve. Captains Zoe Pittet and Kyrrs Kosar are leaders on and off the field, with assistant coaches Megan Strachan, Murray McIntyre and Brett Hopper, we are equipped to improve and win it all. With the level of skill that we have, our desire to win and passion for soccer, surely our motto of Ôvictory brings gloryÕ will prove to be a prediction for the future.
