Canada will face Russia in tonight's gold medal final at the 2005 World Junior Hockey Championship, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Canada beat the Czech Republic 3-1 on Sunday to advance to the finals, while the Russians beat USA 7-2. This will be Canada's seventh consecutive medal at the WJC, which is the longest current streak for any country at this event. Canada and Russia last faced off in a gold medal game in Halifax on January 5, 2003, where Russia won the game 3-2. Canada has yet to beat Russia in a gold medal game since the playoff system was implemented in 1996. Canada's last gold medal win was 1997. The game will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. on TSN and RDS, as well as The Fan Radio Network.
