Hapnot Collegiate hosted a junior varsity basketball tournament on the weekend. Girls teams from MBCI (The Pas), HCI (Flin Flon), Swan River, RDPC (Thompson), Norway House and Split Lake participated, while guys teams from MBCI, HCI, RDPC and Swan River took part. In girls action, Norway House defeated Swan Valley in the finals by a score of 47-34. Here are the round robin scores: MBCI over HCI 23-4 Swan River over RDPC 36-32 Norway House over MBCI 47-30 RDPC over Split Lake 51-5 Norway House over HCI 30-19 Swan River over Split Lake 50-8 Split Lake over HCI 18-16 Norway House over RDPC 45-35 Swan River over MBCI 34-28 In boys action, Swan River beat Hapnot 49-30 in one semifinal to advance, while RDPC beat MBCI 61-25 in the other. RDPC then defeated Swan River 62-52 to win the tournament. "It was evident throughout the weekend, and that is good to see." Bodnarus added that the scorekeepers and referees did an outstanding job, and without their help, tournaments like this one would not be possible.
