Former bench mates Tyler Harris and Doug Hedley got together to make a three player trade on Tuesday. Hedley, a former head coach with the Nipawin Hawks, and Harris, the current head coach and Hedley's former assistant, decided to create a new home for 20-year-old forward Jaydyn Murray. Murray goes to the Kings in exchange for 18-year-old forward Jonathan Lawrence and 19-year-old forward Justin Magnuson. The Hawks also receive future considerations. Murray will be re-united with his brother and another former Hawk in Marlin Murray, who is Dauphin's Assistant Coach. Jaydyn, a Melita MB native, scored 12-goals and added 30-assists in 50-games with the Hawks last season. He also racked up 227-penalty minutes. In his 18-year-old season, Murray had seven goals and 24 assists in 54 games. Nipawin gets excellent return for the 5'11" 180 Ibs power forward. See 'Ineligible' P.# Con't from P.# Lawrence had 12 goals and 24 assists in 49 games in a year split between the Kings and OCN Blizzard. He started with the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL) and went pointless in five games. That makes him ineligible for a scholarship and it would not be a surprise to see him try his luck with the Western Hockey League club again. The 6'1" 180 Ibs native of Steinbach MB has three years of junior eligibility remaining. Magnuson is a former Weyburn Red Wing who was dealt from the Wings to the Kings midseason. He scored seven goals and seven assists in 33 games with Dauphin. The 5'11" 190 Ibs native of Saskatoon has also played in OCN with the Blizzard. He has two years of junior eligibility remaining. The Winkler Flyers have made their first deal of the offseason, sending 20-year-old blueliner Mike Herauf to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. In exchange for the rugged defenseman, the Flyers acquired the MJHL list rights of two 18-year-old prospects, Matt Ostash and Zack McMillan. Ostash was a member of the National Midget Champion 'AAA' Brandon Wheat Kings squad. The 5'9" 165 pound forward recorded just under a point per game last season in the Manitoba AAA Midget League, scoring 20 goals and adding 34 assists for 54 points in 55 games. McMillan, on the other hand, spent the majority of last season playing high school hockey for the Crocus Plainsmen. In 17 contests he notched 13 goals while setting up 19, good for 32 points. He also AP'd with the 'AAA' Wheat Kings, where he added five points in seven games.7/26/2004
