The Battlefords North Stars are headed to the SJHL final after eliminating the La Ronge Ice Wolves in game seven of the ITECH Conference Final on Tuesday with a 4-3 win. Battleford led 2-1 after the first period on goals by Jesse Gulbraa and Jesse Matlock. Kris Desjarlais replied for the Wolves. The teams exchanged goals in the second period, with Dillon Henningson scoring for La Ronge and Fraser Allan scoring his first of the playoffs for Battleford. Matlock scored a power play goal for the Stars early in the third to give them a 4-2 lead, but Doug Exner brought the Wolves to within one goal just over a minute later. La Ronge had a chance to even the score with a 5-on-3 power play midway through the third period, but couldn't get another puck by goaltender Guillaume Miszczak. The Stars out shot the Wolves 40-27, and both teams scored two power play goals. The winner of the Sherwood Conference Final was decided last night between the Estevan Bruins and Yorkton Terriers in game seven. Results were unavailable at press time. MJHL In the MJHL final, the Selkirk Steelers needed three goals in the third period to take a 2-1 lead in the MJHL final. Kent Merriam, Steve Haddon and Andrew Jackman scored to give the Terriers a 3-1 lead after two periods of play. Jordan Cyr had the early goal for the Steelers. Alex Lentowich, Matt Stengl and Evan Walsh all scored in the third period to give Selkirk the win. Game four will be played in Selkirk tonight.
