The Humboldt Broncos have completed the nearly impossible comeback, erasing a 3-0 series deficit to take their best-of-seven series with the Weyburn Red Wings 4-3. The Broncos beat the Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night on goals by Blair Wourms and Trevor Selin. Colby Nickol had the lone tally for the Red Wings, who will now have to wait two months for the Royal Bank Cup to begin in Weyburn. The Wings out shot the Broncos 29-18, but Nathan Hienen was near perfect, allowing just the single goal. Brenden Cuthbert was handed the loss. The second round of the SJHL playoffs will begin tomorrow. In the MJHL Tuesday, the Portage Terriers beat the OCN Blizzard 4-2 to regain home ice advantage and take a 2-1 lead in the series. Tyler Milford and Lem Randall gave the Blizzard a 2-1 lead after the first period. Portage goals by Steve Haddon and Josh Boyd tied the game after 40 minutes. There was a scary moment in the second period when Chris Reykdal was taken off the ice on a stretcher after taking a blow to the head. There has been no word on his status for the rest of the series. Andrew Jackman scored the winning goal at 11:46 of the third period, and Bryan Bouchard iced the win with an empty net goal. In other MJHL action, the Neepawa Natives now have a 2-1 lead in their series with the Dauphin Kings after dumping them 5-3. Dustin Norman had a pair of goals to lead the way, while Sunny Boudreault, Andrew Mackenzie and Mark Hartman had the singles. Joey Moggach, T. J. Warkentin and Jamie Mousseau replied for the Kings. The Winnipeg South Blues scored three power play goals en route to a 6-4 win over the Winkler Flyers. Adam Corrin and Kevin Clark had two goals each for the Blues, while singles went to Ryan Garbutt and Matt Willoughby. Scoring twice for the Flyers was Mike Hamilton. Brady Hampton and Matt Ostash also scored for Winkler. The Blues lead the series 2-1.
