Flin Flon and Creighton school divisions worked together to host a junior high invitational basketball tournament last weekend.
Participating schools included Hector Thiboutot Community School (HTCS) from Sandy Bay; Scott Bateman Junior High (SBJH) from The Pas; Oscar Lathlin Collegiate from Opaskwayak Cree Nation; Creighton Community School; Ruth Betts Community School; and École McIsaac School. Each school brought
multiple teams.
“All in all it was a great tournament with lots of exciting basketball from all of the 17 teams that competed,” said Dean Grove, physical education coordinator for the Flin Flon School Division.
In the boys’ category, HTCS defeated SBJH in the final. The McIsaac Wright/Starkey team defeated the McIsaac Simms/Lytwyn team in overtime to take third place.
In the girls’ category, Sandy Bay defeated SBJH in the final and McIsaac 1 came in third after losing to SBJH in the semifinal.
