The Subway Invitational Junior High Basketball Tournament took place in Flin Flon and Creighton on Saturday. A total of 19 girls and boys teams from across the North took part in the one-day event. After an action packed round robin, the top teams in each pool advanced to the playoff round. In the boys playoffs, McIsaac Belfry/Grove beat McIsaac Ly 28-19 to advance to the final against Ruth Betts. Ruth Betts won in overtime 33-31. In the playoffs for the girls, Creighton edged McIsaac Chrupalo 15-14 in the first semifinal, while McIsaac Hoffman beat Parkdale 22-14 in the other. In a close final, McIsaac Hoffman beat Creighton 13-10 to win the tournament. This week, the Flin Flon/Creighton Junior High Basketball League playoffs continue. Creighton plays McIsaac Hoffman in a rematch from the tournament in the girls final. The game will be played after school today at McIsaac School. The teams for the boys final on Thursday have yet to be determined.
