A select few members of the Flin Flon Aqua Jets made their splash in the provincial pool earlier this month. Emma Peterson (12), Terri-Lynn Mack (16), Anthony Francois (13) and Caitlin Haggerty (12) competed against roughly 200 swimmers from all over Manitoba at the meet. The 2010 Manitoba Junior and 10 & Under Long Course Provincial Championships were held in Winnipeg June 11-13. Five swimmers qualified for the provincial meet from Flin Flon, but only four were able to attend. The Flin Flon athletes competed in the following events: Caitlin Haggerty Third - 50 Freestyle - 34.75 Seventh - 100 Freestyle - 1:20.45 Fifth - 50 Backstroke - 41.97 Seventh - 50 Breaststroke - 48.65 Eighth - 100 Breaststroke - 1:44.25 Anthony Francois Thirteenth - 50 Freestyle - 34.09 Fifth - 100 Freestyle - 1:14.31 Fourth - 50 Backstroke - 42.79 Terri-Lynn Mack Eighth - 50 Freestyle - 33.94 Sixth - 200 Backstroke - 3:13.76 Sixth - 50 Butterfly - 39.37 Emma Peterson First - 20 Freestyle -2:41.80 Second - 400 Freestyle 5:47.88 First - 800 Freestyle - 12:07.12 Fourth - 200 Backstroke - 3:10.74 First - 50 Butterfly - 39.82 First - 100 Butterfly - 1:28.81 Second - 400 Individual Medley - 6:49.23 Prelim time Peterson was presented with the High Points trophy for her age group. She will also be attending the ManSask Long Course Championship this July in Saskatoon. To attend the event, a swimmer must achieve a AA time as well as an A time in both in Individual Medley swim and a distance freestyle swim.
